Afrobeat is the flavor international musicians are enthused by. In the first few years, it reigned, only privileged few like D’Banj were the go-to for these musicians to pitch their tent. However, these days, seeing as the industry is heavily saturated with diverse talents, there’s a clamor for a variety of artists and although only those are the fore are still being considered more, the up and comers also own space in this dimension. This week, to our surprise, we get to witness the best of both of these worlds in Davido and Tems on the remix to American RnB/Popstar, Khalid’s Know Your Worth.

For Davido, one-third of this unlikely eclectic trio, being the bridge that joins international genres together is not new neither is he an amateur in delivering, considering the manner in which he weaves through the Disclosure produced single in his uptempo verse which follows Khalids’. However, this is Tems’ first rodeo and on it, she exerts the silky and fierce energy that pushed a nonconformist’s anthem, Try Me to the mainstream. Raw and emotive, her voice is the perfect ally for Khalid’s equally flawless articulation which results in a harmony that delivers all the right and intended feels in an appropriate measure on what is likely to become an Afro Pop hybrid chart-topper.
