Ejike Asiegbu, a Nollywood actor and producer has said that the death of Chizoba Boye was a big loss to the Nigerian movie industry.

He spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Tuesday.

The actress, 53, reportedly died of diabetes related complications.

The movie director described Chizoba as a hardworking individual.

“I have known her for over 30 years as a consummate artiste. She was a pioneer actress in popular ‘Living in Bondage’ and her role in that movie made her so popular. She will be remembered for that and other Nollywood movies.

“It is another sad chapter. My heart goes out to the husband, family, loved ones, fans and the movie industry at large. I pray for God’s grace and strength for everyone to overcome this great loss,” Asiegbu said.

Chizoba featured as ‘Aunty Abike’ in the popular television series ‘Tinsel Town’.

Her Igbo comedy series ‘Ka Anyi Si Ebi’ was a star feature on DSTV Igbo channel.
